Buying a new car will often be the 1st or 2nd most expensive purchase that you’ll make – depending on whether you own a home. Unfortunately far too many people just don’t do their research, and don’t try very hard to find the best deal because they just feel intimidated when going to a car dealership or talking with a car dealer. In my opinion that’s a big mistake.
If you do your research, and make sure to have your financing (or cash) lined up and ready to make the purchase, you’ll have more power when you go out to make a deal. Here are some sites to do that research:

I think cars are one of the biggest impediments to getting out of debt and staying out of debt. They also make it difficult to maintain a fully funded emergency fund (amount differs based on your situation). Most people need to have at least one car in their family, so there is not much you can do to avoid car related expenses, especially, if you’re trying to drive the car until the wheels fall off.

The Lamborghini Store at Richmond’s Aberdeen Centre is the first Lamborghini store in Canada and only the third Lamborghini Store in the world (LA and Beijing have the other two). The store opened on the weekend with a visit from the President of Automobili Lamborghini to cut the red ribbon.
While the store has two Lamborghini cars on display (a yellow LP560 and a white Versace Edition Murcielago), it doesn’t really sell cars. Instead, the Lamborghini Store leverages the Lamborghini name to sell Lamborghini branded clothing items. I guess if you can’t afford a Lamborghini, the next best thing is wear a shirt with Lamborghini written on it. All clothing items are made in Italy and are priced accordingly, which is to say, very expensive.

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to put on an Olympic Torch Relay? I got a taste of it today by taking a ride with the official vehicle sponsor of the 2010 Olympic games, General Motors.
The Olympic flame has been making its way across Canada to Vancouver in time for this Friday’s opening ceremonies. When it reaches BC Place this Friday, the flame will have been on the road for 106 days, traveling 45,000KM and carried by 12,000 flame bearers. Supporting this endeavor takes 110 vehicles. Sixteen of them are used in the parade route. The rest are support vehicles to make sure the flame keep moving forward no matter what.

They barely sell 100,000 cars a year but they make so much money on them that they nearly took over Volkswagen in a failed leveraged buyout. The following video shows what goes into the making of a Porsche gear shifter. If Porsche puts this much attention and detail into a simple shifter, imagine what they do for the rest of the car?

Normally, I don’t brother installing winter tires on my cars because I used to live in Richmond, which is flat as a pancake. Generally, all season tires will do just fine if you don’t drive much and stick to the main roads. Now that I live 300 meters above sea level on a heavily sloped mountainside in the Properties of West Vancouver, I had to give in and put four Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V1 on the recently purchased Acura MDX. I purchased the MDX because I knew West Van gets a lot snow during the winter months and all wheel drive would be a huge advantage. However, Sarah insisted on installing winter tires as well.
