Archive for the ‘Income’ Category
Over this past week we’ve looked at a variety of ways that you can create extra income for your family. Here’s a link recap of the posts in the series thus far:
First, I need to say thanks to Pete for bringing me aboard Bible Money Matters! It’s a thrill to be writing for one of the very first PF Blogs that inspired me to start my own!
The ironic part of this is that I’m writing about a post to create extra income and that is exactly what I’m doing while I’m writing! As Craig mentioned previously, I too am stumbling into freelance writing – it’s a lot of fun, and a cool way to make a little side money.
We’ve had two days full of income creating ideas. Are you looking for even more ways to make extra money? Good, let’s get started!
Budgeting – Income Vs. Cutting Back
Budgeting your money each month boils down to making sure that there is more coming in than going out. If you have more money going out each month than you have coming in, you really have just two options:
1) cut back on your spending, or what’s going out; or
2) generate extra income.
The absolute best way to create extra income is to pursue something you love. For this reason, I’m a fan of turning a hobby into a business.
Here are some proven ideas or things I’ve come across that people do to make money. Notice – none of these are theoretical options. I’ve either done them, or someone close to me has done them.
Organize Travel Tours
A friend from my hometown loves to travel.
Over the past couple of years I’ve become a big proponent of creating secondary sources of income for your family – finding things that you can do in your spare time to make money to pad your bottom line. If you’re trying to get out of debt, or trying to fully fund your retirement, it makes it a lot easier if you have more than just your day job income.
Life’s more serious events seem to get people more serious about finances. I know when my wife became pregnant with our daughter; all sorts of questions were raised.
- Will you stay home with the baby or continue working?
- How do we pay off remaining debt so that we can afford additional expenses?
- Should we begin investing in our child’s future education (even before he or she is born)?
- What does it cost to have a baby?
This is a guest post by Carol Topp, CPA. Carol is the mother of two teenage daughters and she lives in Cincinnati, Ohio. She discusses teenagers and taxes at http://TeensandTaxes.com.
Bonnie had been adding her son’s interest income to her tax return for many years. That was a $1,000 mistake. She was overpaying Uncle Sam and never realized it.
It is easy to understand why Bonnie reported her son’s interest income as her own. The statements from her son’s UTMA (Uniform Gift to Minors Act) account at the local bank had both her name and his name on the account. Her name was even listed first as “Bonnie Smith, Custodian for Luke Smith”.
Sometimes we work for pleasure. But, more often than not, people work for money.
Since working is an exchange of your time, energy, and talent it is best to find a job that you love and enjoy. However, many people are working in tough job fields.
I found an old resource (1988) – The National Institute on Workers Compensation and the American Institute of Stress put together a list of “10 Tough Jobs”. The results were published in Communication and Conflict Management in Churches and Christian Organizations.

I hope you’ve found the “Blueprint For How To Make Money With A Blog” series to be helpful and enlightening thus far. It’s been a lot of fun to write it.
Today I wanted to wrap the series up with another fun post.
Over the last few weeks I’ve been soliciting tips, tricks and best practices from successful bloggers – asking them what their best advice is when it comes to making money with a blog. Many of them were kind enough to respond with some great answers. So here they are!
Making Money From My Blog – More Than Just Adsense

Once my site started gaining traction, however, I found that there are literally thousands of ways to make money. Today I would like to go through some of the best ways that I have found to monetize a blog. Here’s some of the topics we’ll cover, click on the link to skip ahead:
